For centuries this topic has been debated over. We have two opinions when it comes to this topic. One opinion is that someone will receive the reward of the deed you perform in their name simply based on your intention. The second opinion disagrees and doesn't believe that someone reciting Quran for the dead is allowed and that the dead get its reward.
